Revisiting Behavioral Routinization in Democracy through Violence against Women

Revisiting Behavioural Routinisation in Democracy through Violence against Women (Cases in Asia and Europe) escrito por Dini Harmita Borgault, Peterman, and O’Donnel (2021) analysed 100 papers to understand the violence against women because of COVID-19 pandemic. Though the context is often used as inevitable variable, it is worth checking because the vulnerable tends to be more fragile during the outbreak. From 15 papers related to the violence as the impact of COVID-19, only three of them stated that there are no changes and it is mixed in the effects. The rests 13 said the violence is increased. Interestingly, at least five papers among those examined countries five have Islam as the main religion of their countries. Nonetheless, the rests also have other religions as their background. Therefore, the violence is there regardless any religion or belief is being dominant in the country.  Aolymat (2021)   studied violences in Jordan by referring to classification of domesti...

Democracy and Freedom: Wear them like your kindness, confidence, and pride

Democracy and Freedom Wear them like your kindness, confidence, and pride escrito por Dini Harmita Abstract   When democracy and freedom are deteriorating after several times in the state of dying, this paper is seeing facilitating democracy as the forms of interaction between capitals, systems, and policies. Reviewing Europe and beyond, democracy promotion and support seems to color the world everywhere yet it’s still a bit dark. To enrich, the author also reflected on her two cents of experiences. Keywords: Democracy, Freedom, Facilitation, Policy, System Facilitating Democracy   Facilitating people everywhere has been beautifully honorable. This paper is aimed at discussing the beauty of facilitation as a part of democracy, with cases from Europe and beyond including Indonesia where the author had opportunities to learn the practices directly and indirectly with related sides.  In Indonesia, Barton (2021) mentioned FPI as one of the radical Islamic groups that’s in...

Democracy and Monarchy

Democracy and Monarchy  escrito por Dini Harmita Little we know that monarchy also funds themselves including with their companies including oil and real estates; including the Late Queen Elizabeth II. That’s how they pay for their beautiful tiaras and dresses; like democracy. Like influencers, sometimes they pay their attires by themselves but sometimes they are sponsored. Like political parties, sometimes they are funded by public private finance, sometimes only privately. If a state only has public finance perhaps the country is too democratic; and following the logic where something too much is not good perhaps being too democratic is not preferred either. Including education such as Russell Group. Maintaining the status quo has always been famous in political nuances, when actually the background tends to be for maintaining the funding. This paper is not aimed at blaming neither proving which ones are right and which ones are wrong; but to explore the possibilities of facilita...

Israel and Palestine: Conflicts within Democracy

Israel and Palestine: Conflicts within Democracy escrito por Dini Harmita   Abstract –  We know the cases of Israel and Palestine could be called as amicable conflicts. Following Netanyahu who declared a war, this paper is aimed at exploring the possible next right thing to do including the study itself. Using the concepts of power, party, and party system institutionalisation, the author tried to understand the both coins of Israel and Palestine. Simple solutions to complex problems will never come easy but there’s always a door to start either surviving, guarding, or rebuilding the democracy. Keywords: Israel, Palestine, Conflict, Democracy, Power, Party, Party System, Institutionalisation   Conflicts as We All Know Conflict in Israel and Palestine is a conflict as we all know it must be between the Arab groups and Jewish including Bagaini and Casal Bértoa (2019) who wrote about with political party perspectives. Haugaard (2021) analysed it with four concepts of pow...

Democracy’s Brain

Democracy’s Brain escrito por Dini Harmita Abstract LIke to travel, for some people especially scholars, to think, to read, and to write is to live. Following the current development where authoritarianism and populism tend to rise to the point of affecting and threatening freedom and democracy, the author is delighted to study deeper how our brain works in determining what are the real values of freedom and democracy. At the same time, with both natural and social science approaches, this paper is also aimed to invite the readers to define by themselves in participatory ways what kind of democracy they need and how they could achieve it without harming others. Keywords: Democracy, freedom, brain, authoritarianism, populism Brain development is one of courses that interests advanced countries including Japan, Germany, and Israel. I chose the word ‘advanced’ instead of ‘developed’ because not all developed countries focus on either brain development as part of their problem solution o...
